This is why HP has engineered their Original HP Ink Cartridges to be made of both recycled ocean-bound plastic bottles and recycled HP Cartridges. Original HP Ink Cartridges are made using recycled plastic, which is sourced from cartridges returned through the HP Planet Partners program. This recycled plastic is combined with materials from recycled plastic bottles and apparel hangers to create new cartridges.
How much recycled plastic has HP used?
As of 2022, HP has utilized over 7,160 metric tons of recycled plastic to manufacture new ink and toner cartridges. This includes more than 1,718 metric tons of UL-certified ocean-bound plastic, equivalent to approximately 135 million 16.9-ounce bottles.
What is the HP Planet Partners program?
The HP Planet Partners program is designed to help customers recycle Original HP Ink Cartridges responsibly. Through this initiative, over 1 billion cartridges have been recycled, significantly reducing waste and keeping these products out of landfills.
